Spider-Man: Far From Home serves as a fantastic follow up to both Homecoming and Avengers: Endgame, bringing more of what fans of the wall crawler love, and throwing in some “surprises” along the way.
The Upside:
Far From Home has a great hero, a great villain, and a solid plot. All of the action sequences are beautiful, inventive, and utilize each villain’s abilities in creative ways. Tom Holland is as good as ever, reprising the title character, and the motivations, emotions, and moral decisions that define Spider-Man are presented in some of the best ways that any Spider-Man film has ever done. Far From Home also has a great showcase of Spider-Man’s various gadgets and abilities. Still pulling at the heartstrings of audiences after Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Home balances story, action, and emotion extremely well, and throws in steady laughs for good measure.
The Downside:
Far From Home contains one of the most surprising villain reveals since Khan in Star Trek: Into Darkness (What, you don’t have sarcasm on this world?), and although acted well, the logic behind some of the main characters decision making is a bit questionable at times.
The Verdict:
Spider-Man: Far From Home has plenty of stunning and inventive action, (odd) romance, laughs, and heart, making for yet another amazing (see what I did there?) entry in Marvel’s already impressive universe.
8/10
The High Point: Mysterio’s Illusions.
The Low Point: Mysterio’s cheesy and somewhat awkward toast.
