Movie Rant: “Ruined the Original”

The Situation:

Okay so here’s the situation: A new sequel, remake, or reboot of a franchise comes along and falls short of (some) people’s expectations. Some people shrug it off as “oh well, you can’t always improve on the original” (like I do), while another type of person comes out raging and saying things like “OH MY GOD, THAT WAS A DISGRACE.”, “RUINED MY CHILDHOOD!”, “RUINED THE ORIGINAL.”, etc. etc.

Here’s the deal:

Grow up. Just because something doesn’t meet what YOU think it should, doesn’t mean anything toward the original. Okay, so you hated The Last Jedi, guess what? A New Hope, Empire, and Return are all still great. So please for the love of god, just stop. Oh no, they made an all female Ghostbusters (Spoiler Alert: It’s not even a bad movie), The Original is still a classic. Ignore it, like what you like, and for the love of god be adults.

AND ANOTHER THING:

Why do people feel the need to threaten writers and directors? Maybe the reason that there are so many reboots in the first place is because people who think they have better ideas don’t do anything with those ideas and just criticize those who take chances on their vision. Step up and write or make a movie if you think you can do better.
