1917’s heart pounding action/suspense paired with it’s technical achievements make this one-shot one of 2019’s best films.

The Upside:
1917 will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. The intensity rarely backs off, and when it does, you are left uneasy knowing there’s more to come. There are some truly touching moments, and the action is phenomenal. The final sequence of the film is also incredible on every level and is chill inducing in the epic scale and emotional gravity of it. It is also impossible to marvel at the technical achievement of the editing and cinematography. The whole movie plays out as a single shot (with the exception of one scene for timing purposes. The acting is top tier, even being led by relatively unknown talent, and all of the supporting characters bring their own personality to the table, it is truly a great film.
The Downside:
I kid you not when I say there is little, if anything that I disliked about this film. If anything it’s rather short, which make some of the major emotional moments seem brief, and don’t give the audience enough time to digest them.
The Verdict: A
From start to finish 1917 holds you at the edge of your seat and keeps you completely engulfed in the suspense and urgency the characters are experiencing. Great performances, great cinematography, and exceptional technical achievements, make 1917 a must watch film for moviegoers.
The High Point: Sprinting the frontline
The Low Point: Benedict Cumbercameo (would’ve liked a bigger role)
